The Register started off the year with our February run to Bacchus Marsh for the David Calleja Memorial Car Show and Rally. We met at Corio Village and then it was a short run up the Bacchus Marsh road to Maddingley Park where we were allocated an area for our group. It was an impressive gathering of all sorts of motoring clubs and groups including cars, hot rods, motor bikes and even trucks. There were trophies on offer and Nigel Mason was lucky enough to take home the trophy for “Best British Car”. Definately worth a further visit.

Our March run is being organised by Phil and Helen Parker and will take the form of a picnic on the lawns surrounding Jubilee Lake, at Daylesford on Sunday, 22 March. Phil and Helen say it is a pretty spot with lots of good shade trees. There is paddleboat and canoe hire available and there is also a well stocked kiosk with great coffee. For those who like a little bit of light exercise, a walk around the lake is a lovely stroll. If you are bringing little jag fans, there is plenty for them to explore, a playground on site, and we can also organise some other fun things to keep them occupied.

The lake is a Premier Fishing Lake and regularly stocked with “ready to catch” and ex brood stock Rainbow Trout, so maybe put in your fishing rod. Phil suggests mudeye are the best bait, but they will also bite on powerbait or worms.

If fishing or just relaxing isn’t your thing, Helen says a stroll around the unique Daylesford shops and galleries after lunch is always interesting.

Bring your own picnic lunch, liquid refreshments, picnic rug and chairs. If you prefer, there are BBQ facilities available.

We will gather at the Corio Village car park at 10.00 for a 10.30 departure. Other Register members are welcome to join us, and if coming from other directions, target your arrival at Jubilee Lake about 11.30 to noon.

Let Phil or Helen know if you plan to join the other Register members by email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or by phone to 5276 1385 or 0417 595 616, or myself.

The Australian Grand Prix is at Albert Park in March. The club are again displaying cars and hopefully our man Daniel Ricciardo can put on another good show this year. Hopefully he can get another podium but this time keep the trophy!

Russell and Cheryl Brooks have organised our April run, we will be going to the Myrniong Pub and sprints on Sunday , 12 April. More details later but mark the date in your diary now.
